How does a dash camera work?

A Dashboard camera is mounted onto the front wind screen of your car, with help of suction cup or 3M tape. It obtains its power from the cigarette lighter charger port, and switches on every time the car is started. It continues to record as long as the car is switched on. The Dash cam records in a continuous loop e.g. in loops of 1min, 3min, 5min video files are stored on the SD card. When the memory card is full, the oldest files are overwritten with the latest recorded ones. The only exception are specially locked files that have been saved separately because the dash camera sensed harsh braking or a sudden turn made by the vehicle. Dash cameras can also record audio along with video.
